]]>Already as a child, I was very fond of music and listened to a lot of records and tapes. Later, when I got fascinated with black & white photography, I admired the Jazz photography of William Claxton, Herman Leonard or Francis Wolff: the atmospheric light, cigarette smoke - you could feel the music in the air just by looking at these iconic images.

Going to live concerts is a great opportunity to combine both passions - the one for photography and the one for music. For many years I have taken photos of musicians and bands performing live on stage and I am still continuing my work on this series every once in a while.

]]>We all depend on the various means of transportation to get from one location to another. Whether it is a bus, a car, a motorcycle, a bicycle, a boat, a train or any other means of travel. Mobility is key in nowadays' society - whether it is for business or private purposes. And even if we decide to walk from one place to the next, we need a good path, dry weather and so on to arrive well and on time at our destination.

]]>Like most fathers, I of course love to take pictures of my own daughter. But already long before being a daddy myself, I have very much liked to photograph kids. To see the joy in their eyes, their playfulness, their innocence. It is fascinating to observe how they are open to the world, how they enjoy the little things life offers which we adults do not even pay attention to anymore.

]]>A ritual is defined as a set of actions, performed mainly for their symbolic value. It may be described by the traditions of a community.

Many kinds of actions can be part of a ritual. The rites typically involve the performance of special music, songs or dances, processions or parades, wearing costumes and masks, the recitation of texts, the consumption of special food, drink, or drugs, amongst many other activities.

This series of images shows different rituals of a different kind from seveal places on earth - varying from a church service in Mississippi, the Day of the Dead festivities in Mexico to a buddhist festival in Bhutan.
